Events
The Veluwe is known for its beautiful nature, vast forests and charming villages, but there is also plenty to do in terms of events! Throughout the year, numerous fun activities are organised for young and old alike.
Arnhem: Trees Tell Their Stories
During this unique audio tour, a number of trees in the city will take you into their world. They share their history, tell you about the place where they stand, the people who have passed by, and their hopes for the future of Wageningen. From ancient roots to fresh spring buds, listen as trees talk about growth, change and connection. Sometimes with a touch of humour, sometimes with a wise lesson. Always with a good story.
The walk has no set order: you can start at any time and at any participating tree. Scattered throughout the city, you’ll find various trees with a story to tell. Scan the QR codes by the trees and listen in straight away. This way, you’ll discover Wageningen and its trees in a whole new way.
Arnhem: Sherlock Detective Game
Sherlock is an interactive tour and thrilling game on your own mobile phone, taking you right through the heart of the city. You’ll visit the best spots whilst solving a mystery... Is your detective team, with its impeccable reputation, ready for the challenge? Search the city centre for clues about the murder weapon. Win the trust of virtual witnesses, as they often have valuable information about the perpetrator’s appearance. And, last but not least, capture all your insights on camera straight away.
Arnhem: A stroll through Arnhem’s cinema history
Focus Filmtheater’s ‘Filmsporen’ audio walk takes you on a journey through Arnhem, past places where films were once screened. Walk 4.5 kilometres through the city centre and discover its rich cinematic history through audio clips, photos and film footage. Listen to visitors’ memories, stories from cinema operators and music from days gone by.
You can start the route at any time with a smartphone, earphones and a free map, available from 8 November at the Focus Filmtheater box office. Filmsporen is a gift to Arnhem in honour of the 50th anniversary of Focus Filmtheater, developed by Jonas de Witte with the support of Arnhem City Council.
