National Park De Hoge Veluwe

Welcome to Nationaal Park De Hoge Veluwe, the largest national park in the Netherlands! The purple moors, vast forests and sand drifts invite you to explore on foot or on the (free) white bicycles available in the park. Take a look at the Jachthuis Sint Hubertus and enjoy the works of art in the Kröller-Müller Museum with the second largest Van Gogh collection in the world. Keep your eyes open, you might just spot a wild boar, red deer or mouflon.

Huis Zypendaal

In popular speech it is called a castle, but actually Huis Zypendaal is a country house that was built in 1762-1764 for the Brantsen family. The family lived there until 1926 and the interior still largely dates from that time. The park and garden were laid out in the French style and the English landscape style. Both the house and the surrounding gardens can be visited.

Loenen Waterfall

Be amazed by rolling fields and a real waterfall in nature reserve the Loenense Enk. With a drop of 15 meters the Loenense Waterfall is the largest waterfall in the Netherlands. This so-called stepped waterfall can be combined with nice walks in the area such as the varied walking route Vrijenberg.

Kootwijkerzand

The 'Sahara of the Low Countries', that is how Kootwijkerzand is also called. And when you stand on the immense sand plain, you immediately understand why. On the largest sand drift of Western Europe are several hiking trails. Climb the watchtower for a magnificent view, have a picnic while the children run around or visit Radio Kootwijk: an impressive building that was a broadcasting station in the twenties of the last century.

Posbank

The literal and figurative highlight of the Veluwezoom is De Posbank. At 90 metres above sea level, you can enjoy a breathtaking view that reaches as far as the Achterhoek, the IJssel valley and even Germany. Follow the winding paths through the unspoilt Dutch countryside with its purple heaths and beautiful forests, on foot or by bike. Who knows, you might run into deer, wild boar or the Rheden sheep herd. An excellent starting point for your route is Bezoekerscentrum Veluwezoom.

Palace Het Loo

This former Royal Palace has been open to the public since 1984. Stroll through the stately rooms of the palace and discover the history of the royal family. It is also fun to take a look at the stables and coach houses or stroll through the baroque gardens surrounding the palace. In the summer vacations there are princes and princesses days organized for children. Around the palace lies Kroondomein Het Loo, the largest contiguous estate in the Netherlands.

Step aboard for an unforgettable ride in the historic steam train. Your adventure starts at the station in Beekbergen and takes you past the picturesque stations of Loenen and Eerbeek, ending in Dieren. Here the train turns around to continue the route in reverse order.

Veluwe Cycling 4-day Otterlo

Explore the Veluwe by bike in 4 days! From 1 July to 5 July 2024, Stichting Veluwe Fiets 4-daagse organises the ninth edition of this four-day cycling event. From the Veluwe village of Otterlo, a number of beautiful routes have been plotted through the enchanting forests, expansive heathland and along various Veluwe highlights. The length of the routes vary from 25, 40 or 60 kilometres.

Arnhem

In the pleasant city of Arnhem you can do plenty of shopping in vintage stores and boutiques, have a bite to eat on the Rijnkade and there are plenty of museums to keep you entertained. Like the Open Air Museum and the Dutch Wine Museum. In and around Arnhem there is also much to discover about the Second World War, in which the city played an important role. Like in the Arnhems Oorlogsmuseum for example. Also take a look at the Eusebiuskerk or walk through Park Sonsbeek, one of the most beautiful parks in the Netherlands. For the little ones, Burgers' Zoo is highly recommended.

Cycling and walking routes Otterlo

In the surroundings of Otterlo there are numerous walking and cycling routes through pine forests, heathland and shifting sand areas. Let yourself be carried away by the Planken Wambuis nature reserve, explore one of the wooden shoe paths or join a walk organized by Natuurmonumenten, such as an evening walk at full moon on the Mosselse zand.

Surrounded by forests, meadows and avenues lies the golf course of the Edese Golf Club Papendal. The landscape and the course run into each other in a natural way. From the course you have a beautiful view over the woods that change color every season. There are no water hazards, it is mainly the height differences and the bunkers that are a challenge. Experienced golfers can buy a green fee and hit a ball.

A few hundred meters from the entrance of EuroParcs De Zanding are the beautiful tennis courts of Tennis Association Otterlo. Rent a court or take tennis lessons.
